Steamrail Victoria returns to the North East with a long awaited day tour to the railway town of Seymour. Reminiscent of the glory days of 'The Spirit of Progess', join us as we storm over the great dividing range and into the Goulburn Valley on a return journey from Southern Cross Station.

Departing Southern Cross Station at 10:51am, travel in style in Steamrail’s heritage carriages behind a classic steam locomotive.
The engine will perform a fast run direct to Seymour, reminiscent of the golden age of the Victorian Railways and famous express trains like the Spirit of Progress and Albury Express. After the train departs Melbourne, settle into your compartment and listen to the engine work hard as we climb the famous Glenroy Bank, through the northern suburbs and into regional Victoria. After passing through the volcanic plains surrounding Wallan, our train will climb to the summit of the Great Dividing Range at Heathcote Junction and pass through the familiar bushland of the North-East.
On arrival in the historic railway town of Seymour at 12:26pm, you will have time to explore the town on the banks of the Goulburn River and dine at a number of local venues at your leisure while the loco is turned on the turntable for the return journey.
It is advised to book ahead for lunch in Seymour as there may be limited availability at local venues.
After a pleasant lunch, the train will depart Seymour at 3:20pm for an express run back to Melbourne, arriving at Southern Cross Station at 5:57pm after a memorable day out onboard The Vintage Train!

EXCURSION CLASS
Experience our 'E Type' Carriages dating back to 1906 with beautiful timber work & pressed-tin ceilings, walk-through corridors and comfortable compartment style seating. Featuring old-school air-con, with the windows wide open to listen to the engine working hard up the hills. All seating is reserved.
THE VINTAGE TRAIN
Ride with us onboard 'The Vintage Train’, fully restored by Steamrail as an important part of Victoria’s rail heritage. Our steam locomotives are coal or oil fired and date from 1889 to 1952, while the carriages range from as early as 1906. The train features beautiful timber work & pressed-tin ceilings, walk-through corridors, comfortable compartment style seating, a licensed bar and kiosk, and toilets with washrooms. All rail seating is reserved.
ON-TRAIN SERVICES
Our on-train facilities include a kiosk which stocks a wide range of light refreshments, snacks, and hot & cold drinks. A licensed bar will also be operating, serving a range of beers, wines and spirits. A range of souvenirs will also be able for purchase from our on-board store.
