WHAT?
The University of Newcastle presents: SEUSSICAL JR.! A whimsical and magical musical of Seussical proportions – an entertaining, exciting and energetic 60-minute production (with no interval), perfect to bring the kids!
WHEN?
Our Primary Education superstars will be performing Saturday July 11th (6pm show) and Sunday July 12th (10am and 1pm shows) 2026 – middle weekend of the July school holidays!
WHERE?
Harold Lobb Concert Hall (Newcastle Conservatorium of Music, cnr. Auckland and Laman St, Newcastle) FROM THE JUNGLE OF NOOL TO KALAMAZOO!
WHO?
The team at The Ed Revue – Primary Education Musicals will unlock the imaginations of Novocastrians when they bring the Cat in the Hat, Horton the Elephant, Gertrude McFuzz, Mayzie La Bird, the Whos in Whoville and other Seuss favourites to life with their production of Seussical JR.!
HOW MUCH?
General admission: $20 (+ booking fee)
Family pass (two adults and two children under 16): $60 (+ booking fee)
NB. The auditorium will open thirty minutes before the show, seats will be available on a first come, first served basis. Be early to snag the best seats! Please be ready to show your confirmation email at the door as evidence of your ticket/s.

WHY?
Our primary Initial Teacher Education students are learning how to stage a musical by being IN a musical! They are stepping outside their comfort zones to bring this show to life themselves and to also support a local primary school to do the same! When these educational superstars step out into the profession, they’ll be able to bring sparkle and musical magic to the schools and communities they will serve in the future! Oh, the places they’ll go!
This program is made possible through collaboration with Music Theatre International (MTI). MTI is particularly dedicated to educational theatre, and has created special collections to meet the needs of various types of performers and audiences. MTI’s Broadway Junior™ shows are 30-and 60-minute musicals for performance by elementary and middle school-aged performers, while MTI’s School Editions are musicals annotated for performance by high school students. With permission from MTI Australasia, we are utilising the MTI Showkit for Seussical JR. (a 60-minute show) as a teaching tool for our Primary Education students to learn a musical and then empower a school to emulate the production for their own community.
