About this Event
Setting the Tone for Burn Patient Survival and Comfort
Every deviation from burn best practices can create obstacles, jeopardizing successful patient outcomes. Our goal is 100% survival, maximum patient comfort, and return to a high-quality life, as best as possible. Consistency in following established protocols is crucial for optimizing patient care and ensuring the best recovery. First Responders are often setting the tone for that goal. Together we'll review case studies and discuss the latest burn care guidelines for the pre-hospital setting.
Jack Swerdloff Bio:
Born and raised in Miami-Dade County, I started my 28 year career in the fire service with Miami-Dade Fire Rescue (MDFR) at the age of 19. As I rose through the ranks I filled many positions. 2 of the longest runs were as Captain’s at MDFR’s busiest firehouses. I feel the world of Emergency Services is the last hope for a person with seconds to live, or watching their property be ravaged by a disaster. It’s a responsibility I’ve never taken lightly. Since 2022 I’ve been lucky to have joined the team at HCA Hospitals. I proudly represent them now as the Education and Outreach Coordinator for the Burn and Reconstructive Center at HCA Florida Kendall Hospital’s Level I Trauma Center. There’s no better feeling than to have made a positive difference in someone’s life or to have been part of a team that saved them from leaving this earth too early.
