Learn the basics of watercolor painting at The Suffolk Center.
Basic Watercolor is designed for students who are new to watercolor, looking to refresh their skills, or interested in practicing in a group setting. Instructor Joelle Douthit will guide students through basic watercolor techniques, supply knowledge, and a variety of subjects as students explore this colorful art form.
Joelle Douthit is a multi-media artist working primarily in printmaking, oil paint, and watercolor. She received her Bachelor of Fine Arts from Old Dominion University and has shown work in juried exhibitions and galleries throughout Hampton Roads. Her teaching focuses on helping students look closely, build confidence, and develop the tools to express what they see.
September Session:
Thursdays, September 10 through October 1, 2026
Time: 3:30 PM to 5:30 PM
Duration: 4 weeks
Location: Habel Classroom, First Floor
Ages: 15 to Adult

Cost: $75
