September: Volunteer with The Other Side Village
About this Event
Hi friends! I'm so excited for this month's activity with . The Other Side Village is a master-planned, therapeutic neighborhood in Salt Lake City that provides permanent, deeply affordable housing and whole-person care for adults experiencing chronic homelessness.
If you've never visited the Village before, you are in for a treat. We will be helping with various projects, including washing windows, assembling furniture, pulling weeds, cleaning tiny houses, prepping hotel spaces, and maybe even helping to clean the donut shop!
This is an activity where you can bring your whole family and the more the merrier! Please sign up the number of people in your group so we can have an accurate head count.
See you in September!
XOXO,
Kristin Andrus
What to expect:
A night of learning and doing. We'll hear from The Other Side Village's team about their mission and get to work! We're helping give some of the Villagers a much needed night off.
Come dressed in clothes that can get dirty and be ready to help out! We'll split into smaller groups for different projects. All ages are welcome!
Everyone will be required to fill out a waiver upon arrival.
This is part of Kristin Andrus' 12 Months of Family Giving series. Each month we gather as families and friends to learn and volunteer together. Interested in future events? Sign up for Kristin's and follow her on Instagram!
September's topic: Housing Instability
Get Curious: One definition of homelessness is a loss of community. When we have high social capital (connections with others), we have a safety net. With rising costs, this issue is increasing all across the country. This is a complex problem. I encourage you to do your research, show up, and get curious if this is something that speaks to you!
