Places in the signing line are reserved for those who purchase a copy from The King's English.

About the book:

Dive deeper into the hallmarks and tactics of authoritarian leaders past and present, and learn concrete, practical steps you can take to help preserve our democracy.

How do democracies die? We’re watching it happen in real time. Elected domestic and international leaders are undermining democratic institutions, weaponizing government agencies, and fueling dangerous polarization. Turn on the news—or scroll on social media—and the result is everywhere: fear, anger, and a growing sense of helplessness as citizens wonder, "I’m just one person—what can I possibly do?"

More than simple analysis, How to Save Democracy: The Anti-Authoritarian Playbook educates and equips everyday citizens with practical, peaceful steps to turn anxiety into action and defend democratic institutions. Drawing on history, scholarly research, and her own lived experience living and working in 8 countries in Europe, Asia and the U.S. for over 35 years, Melissa Dalton-Bradford lays out core patterns of authoritarianism, explains how to recognize that you are "being played", provides global historical and modern-day examples of how these patterns have unfolded and are evolving before our eyes, and offers solutions for how citizens—both as individuals and in groups—can take immediate action to reverse the erosion of democracy in their communities.
