Spend a quieter morning at the Taubman Museum of Art discovering the remarkable life and work of Annette Nancarrow, an American-born artist who found her artistic home amid the energy and experimentation of 20th-century Mexico.
During September’s Member Hour, join Deputy Director of Exhibitions Katie Hirsch to explore "Annette Nancarrow and the Mexican Avant-Garde," an exhibition tracing Nancarrow’s distinctive artistic vision and her place within Mexico’s dynamic modern art scene.
Living and working in Mexico for much of her career, Nancarrow developed an experimental practice shaped by the country’s culture and artistic movements while forging relationships with some of the leading figures of the Mexican avant-garde.
Her paintings and works on paper are presented alongside art by people she knew, collaborated with, and collected, offering a fascinating glimpse into the exchange of ideas and relationships that surrounded her creative life.
Enjoy complimentary coffee, take your time in the galleries, and discover an artist whose work offers a distinctive window into one of the most exciting periods in modern Mexican art.
Members are encouraged to bring up to two paying guests for this special morning program.
