The origin of Kolkata Police dates back from the landing of Job Charnock in Sutanauti, the embryo of the metropolis, on August 24, 1690. The modern Police Force in India begins from the appointment of a Commissioner of Police in Calcutta on November 1, 1856. The Commissionerate system of policing is thus the contribution of Calcutta to India.
Kolkata Explorers launches a brand new day trip to help you explore some Police stations in Kolkata and trace the steps leading to the formation of a Police Force.
