Imagine yourself in the year 1930 CE. Two days after, i.e. on December 8, 1930, Dalhousie Square is about to witness one of the most daring revenge murders in our freedom movement history. Not much is talked about the three young revolutionaries.

It was their last ride together. From Kidderpore dressed in an European attire they take a cab to Writers. And then the rest recorded in File number 59/19/30 of Special Branch, Lalbazar, marked "Shooting outrage in Writers Building on 08.12.1930, Murder of IG Prisons". It was the murder of Lt. Col. Norman Simpson, IG Prison.
Kolkata Explorers feels it necessary to revisit those times and know more about our freedom movement revolutions and the colonial past.
Sir John Goldsborough, the British East India Company's Chief Governor of all the Settlements, came to Sutanauti in 1693 after Charnock's death. Credit must be given to him for shifting the nucleus of the settlement from Sutanauti to Kalikata village. The lines drawn by him became the walls of the factory compound. If you are interested to delve into the past, to know more about the stories of the rise of this grand old city, take a walk with us in the central business district - BBD Bagh (or Dalhousie) - where all the action happened with the rise of the empire. This is a heritage precinct rich in built heritage that encapsulates over more than 300 years of history.
