The Animal Justice Party Newcastle-Hunter Regional Group is proud to present a special Newcastle preview screening of the Tony Jones-directed documentary Sentient.
This screening will feature a special in-person introduction by the Hon. Emma Hurst, MLC, of the Animal Justice Party, an elected representative of the NSW Legislative Council and passionate animal rights advocate.
Directed by Tony Jones, Sentient is a moving journey into laboratory research on animals, exposing a hidden world in which it's not just the animals getting hurt.
Following the story of Dr Lisa Jones Engel, a primatologist turned animal welfare advocate, it asks 'can we still justify harming animals and ourselves in the name of science?
"I come at this, not as an activist, but as a lifelong journalist,” says Sentient director Tony Jones, “so we have an ethic of trying to understand both sides of any story, and to not just take a side. I think that it’s up to people to make up their own minds.”
Newcastle and Hunter audiences can see Sentient ahead of its cinematic release at this special preview screening at Tower Cinemas, Newcastle, on Sunday, August 23 at 4pm.
