About this Event
Seen, Heard, and Healing is a KindRoot Wellness Patient Empowerment Series created to support patients, caregivers, women, parents, young adults, and community members navigating the often overwhelming healthcare journey.
The first event, When Doctors Don’t Listen: A Conversation on Medical Gaslighting, will focus on what happens when patients feel dismissed, unheard, rushed, or made to question their own symptoms during medical care.
Through honest conversation, practical tools, and community support, attendees will learn how to recognize medical gaslighting, trust what their body is telling them, document symptoms clearly, prepare for appointments, and ask stronger questions when something does not feel right.
This event is inspired by Kay Starr’s personal chronic illness journey and her book, The Day My Arm Turned Blue, which shares her experience fighting to be heard, navigating complex health challenges, and finding grace in the struggle.
Attendees will leave with encouragement, patient advocacy tips, and simple tools they can use before, during, and after medical appointments.
Continental breakfast will be served.
