🦋 About the presentation:
The Lincoln Soil and Water Conservation District (District) and the Institute for Applied Ecology (IAE) will discuss the historic work on Cascade Head to restore and enhance Oregon Silverspot Butterfly (OSB) habitat as well as current and future endeavors. The District will share our current efforts as we expand our programming to North Lincoln County and opportunities for engagement. IAE will share their experience working across the river from Cascade Head improving OSB habitat at Camp Westwind
🦋 About the speakers:
Tyler Clouse joined the Lincoln Soil and Water Conservation District in September 2021. He graduated with a B.S. in Environmental Studies from the University of Michigan. Since then, he has worked primarily in the intersection of human resource use and environmental protection through regulatory compliance and outreach. An inquisitive outdoor adventurer, you can find Tyler surfing, swimming, berry pickin’, and exploring the diverse landscape of the region. In his free time, Tyler enjoys gardening, cooking, and playing board games.
Llew Whipps is a Restoration Ecologist with Institute for Applied Ecology. They have worked on restoring meadow habitat for the Oregon silverspot butterfly at Camp Westwind since 2024. Based in Corvallis, Llew manages habitat restoration projects from the coast to the Cascade foothills, and is a co-founder of the Mid Valley Prescribed Burn Association. Llew appreciates ecology for the way it highlights connections, and is ever-elated to work in this field that requires combining botany, history, and creativity with their favorite of all tasks: digging holes.
