Welcome to Seahorse Shanty Circle.We now have a regular home at The Bay Horse, Totnes - 1st one is on Saturday, April 4th from 7.30pm till 9pm
This is a relaxed sea shanty and maritime folk singaround.
The format is simple:
• Traditional sea shanties and maritime folk
• Call-and-response at the heart of it
• Lyrics available
• No auditions, no pressure
• Rotating leads welcome
You don’t need to be a singer. You don’t need experience. You don’t need to read music. If you’d like to have a go, you’re in the right place.
We’ll begin with a handful of well-known, chorus-driven shanties — including Wellerman, Drunken Sailor, South Australia, Roll the Old Chariot, and Leave Her Johnny — and build from there.
This isn’t a performance group. It’s a friendly pub singaround built on shared voices, steady rhythm, and good company.
