Sculpture for Beginners- 4 Week Session

Dive into clay in this 4-week sea-life inspired handbuilding and sculpture class! Beginners will learn how to build, carve, texture, and glaze ceramic pieces inspired by the ocean, including shells, coral, sea creatures, waves, and more.

You’ll learn handbuilding basics like slabs, coils, and sculpting techniques while creating your own functional or decorative pottery. Over four weeks, you’ll build skills, complete multiple projects, and gain confidence working with clay.

Unlike a one-time class, this session gives you time to practice, experiment, and improve. You’ll also have access to Open Studio Hours outside of class to work on additional pieces at your own pace.

No experience needed. Just curiosity and clothes you don’t mind getting a little messy in.

Course Duration: 4 weeks, with one 2-hour session per week.

Course Dates & Times*: Wednesdays from 6pm-8pm

• Session 1: June 3, 10, 17, 24

*Students must be able to attend all sessions; there are no make-up dates.

• How to design, model, and carve 3D forms, using additive and subtractive techniques.
• Basic sculpture and handbuilding techniques
• Glazing fundamentals and surface design
• How firing works from start to finish

You’ll leave with new skills, confidence with clay, and multiple finished ceramic pieces.

• Instruction from an expert ceramic artist
• BYOB-Friendly + All Materials Provided: Bring your favorite drink (21+) and we’ll provide everything else— aprons, clay, tools, instruction, and good vibes.

• For ages 18 and up
• Short nails are best for working with clay
• Finished pieces will be ready for pickup in 15-20 business days. We’ll store your work safely for up to two weeks after completion.
• No refunds for cancellations made less than 48 hours before class (we prep materials and plan with you in mind!).
