FILLING UP FAST--WAITING LIST AVAILABLE On Monday, March 30 at 6:30 p.m., we are excited to welcome Gariné Arakelian of Kulina Folk Art Creative Workshops for an exclusive workshop on creating stunning “tie-dye style” silk scarves! Perfect for beginners, this workshop will guide you through the magical world of colors and how to expertly blend them using our permanent, high chroma, highly transparent liquid fabric paint (be sure to bring an old shirt to protect your clothing!). During the workshop, we will provide step-by-step instructions for a creative process that will leave you with a wearable masterpiece.
Your blank scarf is made from 100% silk, ensuring its luxurious quality, measuring 8 inches by 54 inches. Once your creation is complete, allow the scarf to dry undisturbed, at the venue, for approximately 24 hours. Each participant will leave with a beautiful silk scarf masterpiece which will need to be rinsed in cold water and ironed on cool setting to permanently set the vibrant colors.
This program is generously sponsored by the Friends of the Milford Town Library.
About Gariné Arakelian
With an Armenian father and Romanian mother, I was raised in a culturally rich home where both languages and traditions intertwined. Growing up in Bucharest, the influence of my Armenian grandmother, who painted with oils, and an artistic father who was both a skilled artist and graphic designer, played a significant role in shaping my creative journey.
After moving to the US at a young age and earning my BA in Commercial Art, I ventured into teaching art and instituting curriculum at esteemed institutions such as Worcester Art Museum, Fitchburg Art Museum, Worcester Center for Crafts, Summer’s World Center for the Arts and more. It was during this time that I realized the boundless potential of creativity in any medium, leading me to develop creative workshops suitable for all ages and skill levels.
