About this Event

Students encounter scientific claims daily — on social media, news sites, and through AI tools. Do they have the skills to evaluate them?

The San Diego Sceince Project is excited to host this hands-on workshop that equips educators with practical frameworks, lesson activities, and strategies to help students critically evaluate science claims and identify misinformation in the media.

Grounded in the research of Douglas Allchin and aligned with NGSS Practice #8, participants will:

Explore how scientific knowledge is developed

  • Engage with classroom-ready lesson activities
  • Learn strategies for evaluating science claims in media
  • Identify techniques used to misrepresent scientific information
  • Design learning experiences connected to students' everyday media
  • Leave with concrete resources and lesson plans ready to implement.

Registration fee includes parking and materials needed.
