About this Event
Science in the City is Malta’s national science and arts festival, bringing together researchers, artists, local organisations and citizens to explore how science shapes our lives. This event invites everyone to experience research in new and engaging ways.
Guided by strong values, the Science in the City team champions Open Science, gender equity, inclusion, and diversity. We strive to make research accessible to everyone, while promoting dialogue, critical thinking, and active citizenship.
With over 34,000 visitors and more than half a million reached through our media campaigns, it is a fantastic opportunity for scientists, artists, and citizens to collaborate and get creative. Visitors of all ages with curious minds experience the union of science and society in the most unexpected and inspiring ways.
Every edition of the festival reflects the Science in the City team’s dedication to innovation and impact, and the 2026 edition, celebrating Science in the City’s 15th anniversary, carries special significance. With the theme “Research, Resist, Reimagine” the festival becomes a true call to action. Research gives us the tools to understand the world. Resist challenges the existing norms, reimagining and building what could come next. From climate urgency to technological disruption, this edition empowers citizens (especially younger generations) to question, engage, and actively shape their future.
Around Triton Fountain you will be able to enjoy a multitude of science experiments, hands-on activities, games, robots, and interactive installations in a lively outdoor setting. Whether you are interested in health, technology, the environment, or culture, we got it all covered!
At the Street Festival you get the chance to test your brain health, turn trash into beautiful art pieces, see robots in action, find out how Triton is being maintained and restored, learn how to build a more sustainable future and so much more!
