Science at the Museum 2026: Homeschool Group Session
About this Event
Orange Regional Museum's annual science program is back this year.
This year primary school classes can participate in a 1.5 hour Museum science learning program inspired by the 2026 school theme for National Science Week Seeds of Science: nurturing science for all.
We'll explore our upcoming exhibition Untamed and then head to the Activity Space for a hands-on workshop exploring the extraordinary adaptations of seeds and how they ensure the future of plants across the world.
This session will be run for local homeschool families. This is a free session, but bookings are essential.
Important information:
- Please book a ticket for all members of your group who will be attending, including a parent/guardian and any younger siblings. All children need to be accompanied by a parent or adult carer for the duration of the session.
- The workshop and activities will be suitable for children aged 5-12, but best suited to students 8+.
- Eating and drinking (other than from tightly sealed water bottles) is not permitted in the Museum.
- This session will be led by an educator, but your children may need additional assistance with workshop activities and following instructions from time to time. We appreciate your respect for our staff and assistance in listening so that all participants can have a safe and enjoyable visit.
- The number of attendees in this session will be capped. If you are unable to book a ticket, please join our waitlist and we will contact you if there are cancellations.
- To assist us in running this session, the booking form asks you to provide some information about the people in your group, relevant medical conditions and whether or not pictures can be taken of your children during the session.

About Untamed
15 August to 25 October 2026
Weeds, introduced, invasive, pest. We have lots of ways to describe wild plants that don’t belong in our environment. What makes a plant a W**d and who decides? How can we care for Country and our native species? Is a W**d always a bad thing?
We’ll ask these questions and more in our 2026 project Untamed. Discover a wild, weedy installation of colour created by public primary school students from across the region, while learning about the impact of W**d species in our region and how we can help protect biodiversity close to home.
