This sport is based on a task for the dog to locate a scent and communicate to the handler that the scent has been found. This is a fun, positive and challenging activity that allows the dog to use their strongest natural sense - smell - their nose…they get to sniff. How many sports do we not allow them to sniff??
It’s a team sport, with both handler and dog working together, able to read each other, building a foundation of trust.
It’s also a sport that most organizations allow/encourage dogs with physical challenges- amputees, deaf or blind, as long as they don’t appear stressed.
If you want to compete this class will give you a good foundation to start, if you don’t want to compete, it’s still a great game to play with your dog.
It’s a game that can be played anywhere, anytime - you don’t need a large field, a dock, agility equipment, or signs.
No more Heads Up Seven Up or Reindeer games during the long dark cold months, learn a new game to play.
