The Government of Alberta's new disability program ADAP recently came into effect on July 1st.
The Disability community has been clear that ADAP is NOT the answer to the problems with AISH. But the Government has ignored us at every turn.
Join the 5 block march along Stephen Avenue to Say NO to ADAP on July 28th at 11:00AM to tell the Government of Alberta NO to the new ADAP program and NO to disability payment clawbacks!
Disability income on ADAP will be $200/month LESS than on AISH with the expectation that disabled Albertans must now work to make up the difference.
What the Government fails to acknowledge, are the real barriers disabled people face in accessing and maintaining employment. Instead of addressing these barriers, the government is placing the burden on disabled Albertans to re-prove that they qualify to return to AISH. Many will inevitably fall through the cracks: people with limited income, complex medical needs, or conditions that do not fit neatly into the government’s definitions.
Join ACORN to show the government that we wont forget and that we won't give up the fight when they are targeting vulnerable Albertans!
