Save the date for the goat care and showing workshop in the Bullsbrook area! This workshop is aimed at beginners who are just starting out with goats or are interested in keeping goats. If you are new to showing or considering showing this basic run-through will help you too. Some of the topics we aim to cover:• Basic feeding & nutrition: what options there are to feed
goats and what to avoid
• Body condition scoring
• Fencing, shelters and infrastructure to make your life easier.
• Hoof trimming
• Vaccinations, how to administer and what it protects against.
• parasites - worms & lice
• CAE & Johnes disease
• Goat vital statistics and how to take them.
• Goat first aid kit.
Goat shows:
• Requirements if wanting to take goats to shows (CAE testing,
tattoo, lice, health)
• how to enter
• Livestock waybills
• ringside manner
• Basic rundown of classes.
Cost:
DGSWA financial members are free to attend. Non members $10.
The workshop starts at 10 but feel free to come earlier for coffee, cake & a chat. Please bring a plate of food to share for lunch.
