Saturday SHED: Get in Flow, art journalling for calm and inner stillness

SHED will have a new all day monthly sister event! Saturday SHED enables you to SHED the stresses of the week and get in mindful creative flow all day.

In this first ever Saturday SHED, nurture and grow your inner creative spirit with this mindful art class by building a personal mindful art journal and using the journal as a tool to create a stand alone art piece.

Like monthly SHED Art Club, Donna will start the session with an informal presentation on artists/art movements who have used journals in their professional creative practice, followed by some mindful breathing and drawing exercises; these will be outside in the beautiful Walled Garden, weather permitting!

In the first part of the morning session you will design a personalised front cover for your A4 art journal (A4 journal supplied by Donna). Bring along some personal images, photos, sketches,paintings and other creative visuals to put your own creative stamp on your journal.

In the afternoon we will immerse ourselves in the beauty of the season as we explore the beautiful walled garden (the Bradbury Makers Shed is nestled within the garden), we will explore expressive writing, drawing and watercolour techniques by being fully immersed in the garden and it's Spring flora.

Students can then either continue in their art journal inside or outside, or create a larger piece of work/painting based and taken from the sketches and writing done earlier in the day; this can be a painting, pastel, charcoal or collage.

*The workshop can be a stand alone event, or you can continue your art journal journey and bring it along to each monthly SHED Saturday session; or drop in whenever you have the time!

*All drawing & painting materials are provided; free teas, coffees, orange juice cake & biscuits. Lunch is not provided but feel free to bring a packed lunch or use the many cafes in and around the Walled Garden.

Saturday SHED utilises sketchbooks to get your thoughts and images directly onto paper whilst outside!

The Bradbury Makers Shed is nestled in the Walled Garden, and we use the beautiful garden during Saturday SHED (weather permitting!)
