About this Event
Everyone welcome - drop in for a bit, or stay for the whole time! Registration is not required.
Please note that shoes must be removed while in the labyrinth space. Cash donations for labyrinth upkeep are appreciated, but not required. Chairs are provided for those who would prefer to listen without walking, and there is limited space available for yoga mats, first come first served. You are welcome to bring bottled water but no other food and beverages are permitted in the space.
Walking a labyrinth is a form of active meditation, which is unique from meditation while standing still, sitting, or lying down. Labyrinth walking is an ancient practice used by many different faiths for spiritual centering, contemplation, and prayer. For many, it is a way of centering themselves or of seeking insight during times of transition in their lives. Our labyrinth is a full 13-metre replica of the medieval labyrinth laid in the stone floor of the 13th-century Cathédrale de Notre-Dame de Chartres in France.
Sound healing is another ancient practice for meditation and self-care that harnesses the power of sound vibrations to promote healing and restoration. Research shows us that sound healing can slow down our brain waves and put our bodies in a very relaxed, dreamlike state. The vibrations of sound baths are thought to help you connect with your subconscious mind, allowing inner exploration and self-discovery. Our musician, Laura, is a certified sound healing practitioner and guided meditation teacher who can be found on Instagram @ laura_at_the_labyrinth.
