Explore a new art-making technique each of the first four Saturdays. On the final day, enjoy an open studio session where you can complete unfinished projects, spend more time with your favorite materials, or develop your own original work. All registered participants are invited to attend the open studio.
June 20: Acrylic Texture Painting
Dive into bold color and rich surface design in this 3-hour adult summer art session focused on acrylic painting with texture! Participants will explore techniques for building dimension using palette knives, layering mediums, and incorporating textural elements to create depth and visual interest. Learn how to manipulate acrylic paint for dramatic effects—from smooth blended passages to sculptural, impasto surfaces—while developing a finished piece you’ll be proud to display. Perfect for beginners and experienced painters alike, this session encourages experimentation, creative risk-taking, and a fresh approach to painting that you can see and feel.
Instructor: Gail Glagola
Gail is a retired New York State art teacher who loves to weave and paint. Recent paintings have been shown at the Johnson-Humrickhouse Museum in Coshocton, John McIntire Library, and The Works in Newark, Oh. Her weavings were the subject of a one-artist show at the John McIntire Library in Zanesville. Teaching remains a favorite and Gail sought out classes at the Zanesville Museum of Art to keep connecting with students young and “experienced”. After several years the museum asked her to join them as the Educational Assistant and a member of the newest Docent class.
