SAT AM - Mark Making & Mindfulness: The Art of Noticing
About this Event
Most People Rush Through Life and Miss the Small Details
Get out of your head and into the creative process. Follow your breath, movement, senses, and surroundings into unexpected marks and discoveries.
In This Workshop:
Slow down, tune in, and discover what happens when making art becomes less about the outcome and more about the experience.
In this Saturday art workshop in San Diego, you’ll explore mindful art-making and intuitive mark-making inspired by breath, movement, sound, texture, and the world around you with artist, Kathleen Dengerink.
We’ll Explore...
- Mindful & Intuitive Art-Making — Let go of expectations and approach the creative process with openness, playfulness, and curiosity.
- Abstract Mark-Making — Translate breath, movement, sound, texture, and sensory observations into expressive lines, shapes, and marks.
- The Art of Slow Looking — Practice slowing down and paying closer attention as a tool for observation, inspiration, and creativity.
- Process-Based Contemporary Artists — Discover artists who prioritize experimentation, intuition, repetition, and process over a predetermined outcome.
- Creative Awareness — Build confidence in noticing what captures your attention and allowing those observations to guide your art.
Students will walk away with a collection of process-focused drawings, sensory studies, and personal visual explorations shaped by your own experience of noticing.
You’ll also leave with practical mindfulness and observation tools you can return to in your art practice—and everyday life—to cultivate greater creativity, curiosity, and connection.
