About this Event
Sashiko is a traditional Japanese hand-stitching technique - meditative, beautiful and completely addictive. In this 1.5 hour introductory session you will learn the basics of Sashiko running stitch, explore traditional geometric patterns and work on your own fabric sampler.
No sewing experience needed. No machine required. Just a needle, thread and a bit of patience.
What's included: Fabric panels, Sashiko thread, needles and stencils -A mini kit to take home and keep stitching
What to bring: Nothing. We have everything you need.
About your host: Emma Shaw has been practising Sashiko stitching and visible mending for over 10 years. She is the founder of The Well Worn, a Winchester womenswear studio, and lectures in Fashion Management at Winchester School of Art.
Good to know: The studio is on the first floor, accessed by stairs only. Maximum 8 people per session. No refunds but transfers accepted with 48 hours notice.
