Santa Monica Conservancy: Third Street Walking Tour
About this Event
Led by Santa Monica Conservancy President & Docent Mario Fonda-Bonardi, this guided walk explores the historic Third Street Neighborhood District in Ocean Park, established in 1990. The neighborhood includes 27 original bungalows built between 1903 and 1915, along with four structures dating back to the late 1800s.
More than a collection of historic buildings, this district represents a grassroots preservation effort led by local residents who organized, researched, and advocated for the neighborhood’s official designation. Their work not only protected an important part of Santa Monica’s architectural heritage, but also helped build a lasting sense of community.
Guests will hear stories about Ocean Park’s earliest residents, the evolution of the neighborhood, and the buildings that continue to give Third Street its distinct character today.
The tour begins and ends at the Shotgun House, located at 2520 Second Street in Santa Monica. Check-in opens at 11:45 AM, and the tour leaves promptly at 12:00 PM.
Please note: Tickets are $15 when purchased through Eventbrite. To save $5, book directly through the Santa Monica Conservancy website.
