In the Yogic tradition, the body is understood as a temple, and practice as a form of prayer. For this reason, mantra has traditionally accompanied all aspects of Yoga practice, transforming it into Samantraka Yoga-sādhanā — practice infused with sacred sound.
Mantra is not simply repetition, but a subtle and powerful tool that can refine perception, influence the deeper layers of the mind, and support balance within the body’s energetic systems, including the cakra-s.
Rooted in the teachings of Yogācārya T Krishnamacharya and consistent with the Yoga Sūtra-s of Patañjali, these integrated approaches were traditionally transmitted according to the individual, respecting one’s adhikāra (readiness and capacity).
Today, such teachings are rarely encountered in their authentic form.
This one-day workshop offers a practical introduction to integrating mantra within āsana and breath-based practice, inviting a shift from doing to experiencing — from exercise to prayer.
Open to all levels, this is a rare opportunity to study in the UK with Dr Kausthub Desikachar, lineage holder of the Viniyoga tradition, and engage directly with this subtle and transformative aspect of Yoga.
