👣 Hike Description
We begin from Sandling station on the route of a former Victorian railway line before leading through quiet orchards, open farmland and rolling countryside towards the picturesque village of Saltwood. Along the way we'll pass the impressive Saltwood Castle, a historic landmark with centuries of fascinating heritage, before continuing through the surrounding countryside.
From there we'll descend to the coast and arrive at the beautiful shingle beach at Sandgate. If the weather is warm and conditions are suitable, you'll have the opportunity to enjoy an optional swim in the English Channel or simply relax on the beach and take in the sea views. (Swimming is entirely at your own risk. Please note that swimming is not part of the guided activity, and anyone choosing to swim does so entirely at their own risk. )
We'll then continue along the traffic-free seafront promenade towards Folkestone, enjoying expansive coastal views before reaching the vibrant Folkestone Harbour. Here we'll have time to explore the harbour area, grab refreshments, enjoy an ice cream or simply unwind by the sea before making our way up through the attractive Leas gardens to Folkestone Central station for our return journey to London.
