About this Event
The Greenwich Borough Walk
Woodland paths, riverside views and iconic London landmarks — a full-day walk from ancient woods to the heart of maritime Greenwich.
Join me for a guided walk linking some of South East London’s most beautiful green spaces and riverside scenery.
Beginning at Sevendroog Castle, high on Shooter’s Hill, we’ll start among ancient woodland and open viewpoints before descending through the peaceful paths of Maryon Wilson Animal Park and parkland towards the Thames.
From there we join the Thames Path, following the river westwards with wide views across the water, passing the striking Thames Barrier and the changing landscapes of London’s riverside. This section offers a wonderful contrast between nature, history and the city itself.
We’ll pause at the lovely River Gardens Café for a relaxed lunch break before continuing into the heart of Greenwich. From the river we climb gradually uphill through the sweeping landscapes of Greenwich Park, passing Ranger’s House and the beautiful new rose gardens as we make our way towards Blackheath.
The walk finishes near Blackheath station, where the 89 bus provides an easy connection back to the starting point.
This is a friendly, supportive group walk at a sociable pace, with plenty of opportunities to pause, chat and take in the surroundings. Ideal for anyone who enjoys exploring London on foot without the stress of planning routes or walking alone.
