Workshop III — Copa Variations
(Advanced Beginner / Intermediate)
The copa is a fundamental salsa technique built around the redirection of the follower, making it one of the most important movements in partnerwork. Understanding this technique helps both leaders and followers develop better timing, control, and connection on the dance floor.
In this workshop, we’ll start by breaking down the primary copa technique so dancers clearly understand the footwork, timing, and redirection. Once the foundation is solid, we’ll build on it by learning two to three creative copa variations that can be easily incorporated into social dancing.
