Salon Evenings by Artist-in- Residence Emily Colvin at Hotel Figueroa
About this Event
What is a Salon?
Beginning in 17th-century Paris, salons became gathering places for artists, writers, thinkers, and curious minds- rooms where people came together to encounter new ideas, discover new work, and see what might happen when interesting people shared a table.
The salonnière was the host and curator, bringing the right people into the room and creating the conditions for something new to happen.
Salon Evenings brings that spirit to Los Angeles today.
Hosted by Hotel Figueroa’s Artist-in-Residence Emily Colvin, Salon Evenings is a contemporary gathering around art, conversation, creativity, and community, set inside the hotel’s magnificent Gran Sala.
Emily is an artist, host, and founder of Projects At Large, a Los Angeles studio spanning glass, neon, light, and sculpture. With a family background in hospitality and years spent creating spaces for people to gather, she brings together two worlds that have always felt natural to her:
art and hospitality.
