What if your next night out in Los Angeles involved making something instead of just looking at it?
Salon Evenings is an intimate evening of art, cocktails and conversation inside Hotel Figueroa's historic Gran Sala.
Hosted by artist and Hotel Figueroa Artist-in-Residence Emily Colvin, each evening begins with a personal look at High Water, followed by a guided paint-on-glass experience where you'll create an original artwork to take home.
Come with friends. Come on a date. Come by yourself.
No art experience necessary.
WHAT IS A SALON?
Centuries ago, salons brought artists, writers, thinkers and curious people together around a table. The salonnière was the host—the person who brought the right people into the room and gave them a reason to stay.
Salon Evenings brings that idea into Los Angeles today.
The artwork gives us a reason to gather. The conversation is what happens next.
THE EVENING
Your evening begins with a personal tour of High Water, Emily's current exhibition at Hotel Figueroa.
Then you'll settle into the Gran Sala for an intimate, guided paint-on-glass experience led by Emily.
You'll have everything you need to create your own original piece, and your finished artwork will be framed and ready to take home.
There will be a welcome cocktail, light bites, music, and plenty of time to talk, make something, and linger.
It's an art workshop—but it doesn't feel like a class.
It's a night out.

WHY HOTEL FIGUEROA?
Hotel Figueroa has been part of Downtown Los Angeles for nearly a century, and the Gran Sala is one of those rooms that makes an evening feel like an occasion without needing much explanation.
It's a place with history, character, and a little bit of mystery.
For Salon Evenings, it becomes the room where we gather.
ABOUT EMILY COLVIN
Emily Colvin is a Los Angeles artist and the 2026 Artist-in-Residence at Hotel Figueroa.
Her work explores light, reflection, memory, and movement, often through painted glass, neon, and mixed media.
Emily has spent years working at the intersection of art and hospitality, and Salon Evenings grew naturally from that experience: a chance to bring people into the room, introduce them to art, and make the experience feel personal.

Aprons are provided, but we recommend wearing something comfortable that you don't mind getting a little paint on.
