The Salida Mountain Series is presented by Buena Vista Mountain Adventures (BVMA) in partnership with Salida Mountain Sports (SMS). This free community event builds skills, sparks conversation, and connects people who love the mountains. Join us on February 10th from 6:00 pm to 7:30 pm at Salida Mountain Sports, located at 110 F Street, Salida, Colorado, for Backcountry Mapping and Tour Planning.This month’s topic is all about backcountry mapping and tour planning. Learn how to preview terrain, identify route options, and build a tour plan using digital mapping tools. We will walk through mapping software, apps, and planning techniques that make navigation and route finding easier before you go and once you are out in the field. A professional BVMA Sawatch Range mountain guide will lead it.
The event is open to all experience levels whether you are just beginning to explore the winter backcountry or you’ve been touring for years. This talk is a perfect entry point or a solid preseason refresher.
