Salem Band will perform its annual Winter Concert on February 23rd in Hanes Auditorium. This exciting program has something for everyone: City Chase by Lauren Taylor; Alfred Reed’s El Camino Real; Benediction and the Royal Australian Navy March, in memory of late Salem Band member Bart Collins; two jazzy selections: Takarajima and Satchmo!; Anthony O’Toole’s Anthracite, honoring our Pennsylvania connections; an original composition by Salem Band member Russ Gieselman, The Good Craic; Frank Ticheli's exciting composition, Vesuvius; and more. Salem Band’s Featured Soloist for this program is local baritone vocalist Jacob Cook, who will sing arias by Handel and Verdi with the band.FREE in Hanes Auditorium, Elberson Fine Arts Center, on the campus of Salem Academy and College.
Established in 1771, Salem Band is the oldest, continuous mixed wind ensemble in the nation. Eileen Young, Music Director.
