About this Event
Join local community members for a panel discussion and conversation groups on Sage Stage of Life: Empowering Older Adults through Supportive Conversations hosted by the Western Mass Department of Mental Health and the Pioneer Valley Coalition for Suicide Prevention on Friday, November 8th from 1 – 4:30pm at Saint James and Andrews Episcopal Church in Greenfield, MA.
We hope you'll join us for an enriching event designed to foster supportive conversations and skill-building among older adults, local organizations, and community members. Together, we’ll delve into three important topics—grief and loss, love and intimacy, and empowering communication—with expert guidance. This is a unique opportunity to learn how to connect and communicate more deeply and effectively with older adults, their friends, family members, and as peers.
The event will include opening remarks (1pm), a panel discussion focused on how we talk about change, loss, and growth (1:15 – 3pm), and the chance to join a conversation group on one of the three discussion topics covered by our panel experts (3:15 – 4:30). Conversation groups will not be livestreamed or recorded.
Confirmed presenters include:
- Maureen Callahan Smith, author, panelist on Grief and Loss
- Gina Simm, author, founder of Teaching from Your Heart, panelist on Communication
- Sarah Carr, LMHC, Grounded and Growing, panelist on Sex and Love
- Julie Schwager, Area Director Western Mass Department of Mental Health, opening remarks
