The Friday night series at PORTAL is designed to help you release the stress of the week and welcome the weekend with special offerings in sober community to get closer to yourself.

This week, we'll be led by Rae Filla. Here are some words from Rae describing the practice: As your guide, it is my role to create and hold a safe, grounded container where you can explore your inner experience at your own pace. All emotions, sensations, and truths are welcome here. This is a space where you’re encouraged to come as you are.
You may be invited to move energy through expressions like laughter, deep sighs, or vocal release - always optional and guided by your comfort. There will also be the opportunity for supportive touch, and I will always ask for permission first.
After the active breath, we’ll move into a restful meditation, similar to savasana, to allow for integration. We’ll close with space for sharing, reflection, and any questions or observations that may have come up during your journey.
Rooted in the belief that each nervous system is unique, this Breathwork offering provides a supportive space to connect with your body and breath through a somatic, trauma-informed lens. You’ll be guided gently, with an emphasis on tuning into your own experience, cultivating safety, and restoring balance. Whether you’re new to Breathwork or deepening your practice, this offering honors your pace and your process.
Breathwork is a powerful yet simple practice where you consciously control your breathing to improve your mental, emotional, and physical state. Breathwork is a return to yourself.
Below are some benefits of Breathwork:
-Reduces Stress and Anxiety
Breathwork activates the parasympathetic nervous system-basically your body’s ‘rest and relax’ mode-helping calm your mind and reduce feelings of stress and overwhelm.
-Boosts Mental Clarity and Focus
By increasing oxygen flow to the brain, breathwork can sharpen your thinking and bring a sense of clarity, which is great for when you’re feeling foggy or scattered.
-Improves Emotional Health
Breathwork can help release stored emotions or tension, making it a great tool for emotional healing or just processing a tough day.
-Enhances Energy and Vitality
Some breathing techniques can actually boost your energy levels and leave you feeling more alive and present.
-Supports Better Sleep
Certain breath patterns are incredibly effective at calming the body for deeper, more restful sleep.
-Strengthens Mind-Body Connection
Breath is a bridge between the body and mind. When you tune into your breathing, you become more aware of your body, feelings, and inner state.
Please wear comfortable clothing that allows you to relax and breathe with ease.
You'll need:
•Comfortable clothing
•Journal + pen
•Water
•Crystals, tokens, or any grounding objects that help you feel safe

This Breathwork offering will guide you through a 2-part breath pattern, using the mouth for all inhales and exhales—breathing into the belly, then the chest, and releasing through the mouth.

Feel free to come a little early to check in, pour yourself tea, socialize and get settled in. Stay a little late to journal and wrap up. The breathwork class will take place 6-7pm. You can expect to be here from 5:45-7:15.
Registration is required.
There are no refunds offered. Please communicate regarding your attendance.
Breathwork is more powerful with a friend! Invite your bestie to experience this calming and soothing evening with you.
