About this Event

Our political system is not working for enough Californians. It is time to build something better — and we need your voice at the table.

Join ProRep Coalition and community members from across Sacramento for an interactive town hall on the future of democracy reform in California.

Participants will learn about proportional representation and how reforming California's elections can create more political choices, stronger competition, and fairer representation. You will then work with other attendees in small-group discussions to explore the most important decisions involved in designing a new electoral system.

This is more than an educational event. Your ideas, priorities, questions, and concerns will directly inform ProRep Coalition’s statewide electoral reform efforts.

You do not need to be an election expert or political insider. We want to hear from everyday Californians about what is not working, what values should guide reform, and what a better democracy should look like.

Come ready to:

• Learn how proportional representation can give Californians more choices and a stronger voice
• Discuss the opportunities, tradeoffs, and design decisions involved in reforming our elections
• Help shape statewide electoral reform efforts by sharing your priorities and recommendations
• Connect with neighbors and community members who want a more representative democracy
• Take action by joining California’s growing pro-democracy movement

Why Your Participation Matters

Major decisions about California’s democracy should not be made only by politicians, lawyers, or policy experts. They should be shaped by the people who will live under the system.

The feedback collected at this town hall will help guide ongoing research, public engagement, and the development of potential electoral reform proposals for California. Whether you are enthusiastic, skeptical, undecided, or completely new to the topic, your perspective is valuable!
