SabreSlash 2026 is an annual gathering dedicated to celebrating and advancing the art of historical sabre fencing in all its diverse traditions. Open to practitioners of every level and style, the event will take place in Prague, Czech Republic, on September 26–27, 2026.
This year, the organizers — Barbasetti Military Sabre (est. 1895) and Ars Dimicatoria Prague — are honoured to welcome several distinguished guest instructors from Northern Italy, including: Franco Burberi (Milano, Italy), Daniele Calcagno (Genova, Italy) and Carlo Parisi (Varese, Italy).
And, if fortune smiles upon us, Matt Galas (USA) may join the roster as well.
Alongside our international guests, Barbasetti Military Sabre (since 1895) will present two dedicated workshops led by Leonid Křížek and Michael Kňažko.
This year introduces again our signature sabre fencing tournament: RandomSlash — a format built entirely around spontaneity, joy, and the pure love of fencing. In RandomSlash: Everybody can fence with anybody, for as long as they like, as often as they like.
As part of the SabreSlash 2026 program, we are proud to host the presentation of the first-ever Italian translation of Maestro Luigi Barbasetti’s seminal work Sabre Fencing. This new edition, titled “La scherma di sciabola”, was translated and published by Daniele Calcagno in 2025.
As always, all gentlemen are encouraged to attend “SabreSlash Moustache Challenge”, wearing a fully grown 1900´s style moustache. The wearer of the most classical moustache will be awarded a very special prize.

- “The Genoese War Sabre of Carlo Tamborini”, workshop run by Daniele Calcagno, Scuola di Scherma Storica “Antonio Quintino”, Genova SSSAQGE, Italy.
- “Giuseppe Bertolini´s Sabre and Squadrone”, workshop run by Carlo Parisi, Salle Gavirate, Scherma Storica Pavia, Italy.

- “Feints in Luigi Barbasetti fencing method”, workshop run by Michael Kňažko, Barbasetti Military Sabre (since 1895), Prague, Czech Republic
- Single stick fencing workshop run by Matt Galas. The full workshop description will follow shortly.
- Presentation of La Scherma di Sciabola — The First ever Italian Edition of Barbasetti’s Sabre Fencing by Daniele Calcagno.
