Rug Tufting Workshop

In this 7 hour class will teach you the basics of rug tufting from start to finish. You will have all the information you need to start rug tufting from your home or studio.

In this class you will learn:

How to set up your frame

Best materials and practices

How to operate a tufting machine

How to tuft a rug

How to finish and back a rug

Participants will receive hands on training in a very small workshop setting for up to 5 people. Students will be able to make a 30in x 30 in rug to take home. Tufting machine, frames, cloth, yarn and all other tools will be provided for you.

This workshop is intended for beginners. ages 15 and up welcome.

This location is in the heart La Mesa. There is two hour parking lot in the complex. You can take breaks whenever you need to move your car. There is free street parking surrounding. There will be an hour long lunch break, you can bring your lunch or enjoy some of the options around.

Artist Bio: Katie Ruiz is a Chicana interdisciplinary artist working in painting and textile media. She is the creator of the Pompom Project -a community art installation program. She believes in craft as a healing modality for community and individuals and aims to bring craft to as many people as possible.

Revision Project is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to provide inclusive access to art, culture, social practice and environmental education through the framework of a creative workspace.
