Rueda Casino Course with the Tribe!
🌟𝐑𝐮𝐞𝐝𝐚 𝐂𝐚𝐬𝐢𝐧𝐨 𝐜𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐬𝐞 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐓𝐫𝐢𝐛𝐞! 🌟
This course is dedicated to exploring the true essence of Salsa Cubana through Rueda de Casino — not just as a sequence of calls, but as a dynamic, living structure.🔥🔥
While many classes focus only on learning individual rueda moves, here we go further. You will dive into how the rueda actually works: its formations, transitions, and collective flow. We’ll explore different structures such as 𝘳𝘶𝘦𝘥𝘢 𝘭𝘭𝘢𝘯𝘵𝘢, 𝘳𝘶𝘦𝘥𝘢 𝘵𝘰𝘳𝘯𝘰, 𝘳𝘶𝘦𝘥𝘢 𝘴𝘸𝘪𝘵𝘤𝘩, and outside rueda, giving you the tools to understand, adapt, and play within the circle with confidence. 🌟 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐦𝐚𝐠𝐢𝐜 𝐨𝐟 𝐫𝐮𝐞𝐝𝐚 𝐢𝐬 𝐢𝐧 𝐢𝐭𝐬 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐧𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 — the energy of moving as one, the spontaneity, the laughter, and the constant interaction between dancers. This course is designed to build that awareness, so you’re not just following calls, but truly dancing inside the rueda.
𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐎𝐫𝐢𝐠𝐢𝐧𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝐑𝐮𝐞𝐝𝐚 𝐝𝐞 𝐂𝐚𝐬𝐢𝐧𝐨
Rueda de Casino was born in Cuba in the late 1950s, during a time of vibrant social dancing in Havana. The dance emerged from the popular Cuban partner dance known as Casino, which itself developed from earlier styles like Son Cubano.
Groups of dancers began forming circles — or “ruedas” (which means wheel in Spanish) — where couples danced together while a leader, known as the caller, would announce moves. These calls coordinated the group, often involving partner switches, synchronised patterns, and playful interactions.
Originally, rueda was danced in social clubs and casinos (dance halls), hence the name Casino. Over time, it evolved into a highly social and energetic group dance that emphasises:
➡ Communication and listening
➡ Group awareness
➡ Playfulness and improvisation
➡ Community connection
Rueda became a cultural expression of Cuban identity — joyful, inclusive, and interactive — and has since spread all over the world, adapting to different styles while maintaining its core spirit of unity and fun.
