Cork Energy Leadership Forum: Energy with accountability
About this Event
Join Tyndall National Institute, OPNBuildings, Optien and Cork City Council for a focused morning discussion on how organisations are approaching energy with greater accountability, visibility and strategic oversight — and how many are now progressing towards fully third-party auditable energy data.
This forum will explore how Tyndall became a leader in energy efficiency by moving from manual, historical reviews toward live performance tracking and structured operational visibility.
- Derry Kelleher from Tyndall National Institute will share how sustainability became a core operational value across the organisation, how tenant stakeholders were engaged, and how Tyndall reduced energy demand while building a structured path toward decarbonisation through a data-led approach to energy performance and operational control.
- Colin Donohue from Optien will discuss the role of expert guidance in helping organisations better understand their energy use, establish reliable monitoring, and create the operational clarity needed to support informed decision-making and measurable progress.
- Tony O’Keeffe from OPNBuildings will explore how technology is helping organisations move beyond reactive reporting toward live operational insight, freeing up internal resources to focus on performance, accountability and long-term progress.
- Peter Medway from Cork City Council will then discuss Cork City’s Climate Action Programme, including the wider challenges, ambitions and practical realities shaping climate action across the city.
The morning will conclude with a guided tour of the Tyndall facilities, offering attendees a closer look at the technologies, infrastructure and operational approaches supporting Tyndall’s work.
