Have you ever wanted to come to Rotokare to get involved with key conservation work? We need YOU this weekend!Biosecurity is one of the most important things we do at Rotokare ensuring the reserve remains pest free and safe for our native wildlife. We do regular monitoring to check we are free of pest animals and follow up on anything we find!
We had an excellent turn out last week with folks coming to deploy our monitoring cards! Thanks so much to those who helped out!
From this Sunday, March 2nd, we will be bringing these cards back in. We're trying to get as much of this done in one hit to give us a really good snapshot of what's going on so we need your help!
There are a range of different lines to suit a range of abilities and fitness levels. Training will be given on the day as required
This is a great way to see different parts of the reserve and meet some of the awesome plants and animals which call Rotokare home. Plus, it's always interesting to see what critters we uncover bringing cards in (hopefully no pests, plenty of insects and, if we're lucky, some lizards!)
Please bring warm clothes (which you don't mind getting dirty), good footwear for uneven surfaces (its wet and slippery in the bush, and can be steep in places), a drink and plenty of enthusiasm.
Our working bee runs from 8:45am-12:30pm with lunch provided afterwards (please RSVP for catering purposes).
Not free on Sunday? Got some time during the week? No worries! There may be a few lines left to do so please message us if you have any time the following week to help tidy this up (we are grateful for whatever time you have to spare!)
