About this Event

We are delighted to welcome Rosie Hewlett to Waterstones Piccadilly to celebrate the release of Sweetbitter Song. From the bestselling author of Medea comes another richly imagined mythical retelling, this time focusing on the slow-burning relationship between Princess Penelope and the enslaved Melantho. To celebrate publication, all attendees will receive a themed print with art from Sweetbitter Song.

Having secured a first-class honours degree in Classical Literature and Civilisation at the University of Birmingham, Rosie Hewlett has studied Greek mythology in depth and is passionate about unearthing strong female voices within the classical world. Rosie currently lives in Kent with her husband and is now a full-time author spending her days lost inside her favourite stories from mythology. Rosie's first traditionally published novel, Medea, was an instant Sunday Times bestseller. Her self-published debut novel, Medusa, won the Rubery Book of the Year award in 2021.

Sunday Times bestselling author Nikita Gill is an Irish-Indian poet, playwright, illustrator and actor who has the attention of over 800,000 Instagram followers worldwide for her work. She has given a TEDx Talk, spoken at every major literary festival in the UK and been shortlisted for the Goodreads Choice Award in poetry three times, the Children's Poetry Award twice and longlisted for the Jhalak Prize. Hekate, her first novel in verse, became an instant global bestseller.

Please note: Book and ticket option includes a copy of Sweetbitter Song (RRP. £16.99) available for collection on the night.
