Roseburg Parks & Recreation is proud to partner with the Umpqua Bird Alliance (formerly the Umpqua Valley Audubon Society) to host an event showcasing a mesmerizing natural phenomenon. Bring the whole family out to witness the amazing feat of hundreds of Vaux’s Swifts entering
the chimney of The Clay Place close to sunset during their migration south. Guests are welcome to set up blankets or chairs in the grass around the building (located in Fir Grove Park, off Harvard Ave.) and bring snacks to enjoy. Alcohol is not allowed.
Exact start time depends on sunset, as that is when the
swifts are most active, but Umpqua Bird Alliance Staff will be on hand to serve as interpretive naturalists to answer questions and share their knowledge about the Vaux's Swifts, as well as other migratory birds, starting at around 6:30 PM.
Other Special Guests:
📙 Federal and State agencies
🐦 2 rescued Cedar Waxwing bird ambassadors
🎶 The "Oregon Old time Fiddlers Association" will entertain the crowd with Americana music, weather permitting.
