ASIST is an in-depth training developed by LivingWorks that prepares individuals to provide suicide first-aid intervention using the evidence-based Pathway for Assisting Life (PAL) model. Backed by numerous peer reviewed studies and government reports, ASIST is recognized in SAMHSA’s and the Suicide Prevention Resource Center’s national registry of best practices, and it is often referred to as the "gold standard" in suicide intervention training. Although many professional caregivers use ASIST, anyone 16 or older can learn these life-saving skills.

What you’ll get:

  • Skills to recognize and support a person with thoughts of suicide
  • The ability to conduct a safety assessment and develop a safety plan
  • Opportunities to learn from other participants and practice your intervention skills at your own comfort level
  • Training workbook and localized resources
  • Certificate of completion
  • 12.75 NASW and MHACBO Continuing Education credits
  • Lunch will be provided both days

After you register, please send an email to Fawn Sybrant [email protected] with the following information:

  • Your contact information during the training
  • An emergency contact during the training
  • Your title and credential
  • Have you had any prior suicide prevention, intervention, or postvention trainings? If yes, please list what training and when you it was completed. Please note: ASIST

Important Note:
ASIST includes discussions and activities related to suicide that some participants may find emotionally challenging. If you have experienced the loss of someone to suicide within the past year, you may wish to consider whether this is the right time for you to participate. Many organizations recommend waiting at least one year after a suicide loss before taking ASIST, depending on your individual circumstances. If you have questions or concerns about whether the training is appropriate for you at this time, please contact the training organizer.
