About this Event

Rope Burn SF: Body Movement and Handling with Master R

Rope Burn SF is the Bay Area’s only recurring rope skill-share focused on men’s rope practice. Our aim is to create a relaxed and supportive environment for people interested in exploring the art of rope, every 2nd Thursday of the month.

For this special September edition of Rope Burn SF, we’re excited to welcome Master R of NYC as our guest teacher for a workshop on Body Movement and Handling.

Master R is a shibari practitioner from Brooklyn, New York. His practice explores the struggle and surrender that occurs in a rope bondage dynamic. He is the co-founder of Taught & Bound, a rope study for masculine bodies at Temple New York. He also teaches at MMX Yoga and serves as the instructor for shibari clubs at a consortium of colleges. His work and perspective have been profiled in Envy Magazine, Sensitive Content Magazine, and the 2025 IML Art Showcase.

You can find him on Instagram here:

About the Workshop

Body Movement and Handling focuses on the leading and following cues that happen between partners during movement. In this class, we will cover moving from sitting to lying down and standing, using techniques that help those transitions feel fluid, natural, and connected.

This is a great workshop for anyone interested in making their tying feel less static and more embodied, especially for floorwork, transitions, and scenes where movement matters as much as the tie itself.

We want this group to be fun, open, and welcoming to all levels of experience. Suggested donation is $25 to help us continue providing rope events and education, with sliding scale available so nobody is turned away. If you are new, getting started can feel daunting, but we are here to help, and we would love to welcome you. A handy beginner’s guide is available at www.ropeburnsf.com
