About this Event
Roots and Magick is an intentional gathering of BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, People of Color) womxn caregivers.
Elyse Sundita (she/they) is a Filipina Queer coach from Kasama Healing. They welcome you to connect and be in community during this 3-hour workshop. Elyse will facilitate a sacred space to explore and affirm participants' values, connect with their roots, and discover how their spiritual practices can support their caregiving journey.
Kasama Healing defines caregiving as the following: if you are in the position of caring for others, being an empath, a highly sensitive person, and/or emotionally exhausted – you are a caregiver!! In a nutshell; if you care about what is happening and you are giving parts of yourself on a regular basis – you ARE a caregiver. Period. Full stop. We invite and call you into our space.
During this workshop we will move around, journal, break out in small groups, meditate, reflect, and connect.
The event begins at 11, with doors opening at 10:30 am. To provide the best experience for all, studio doors will be locked at the start of the event.
Please allow enough time to get yourself settled and ready to join in by 11:11 as Elyse has a packed and dynamic workshop.
We ask that you:
- wear comfortable clothing (layers are always good)
- bring a journal/notebook & writing medium
- bring a reusable, closed water bottle (no open containers)
- bring a blanket
- get yourself ready for exploration and deep connection
- bring snacks to offer yourself nourishment during this session, as no food or drink will be provided (besides water)
There will be a community altar during the entire session, we welcome any accoutrements to add to this altar. This could be a crystal, a photo, tarot/oracle card you want to invoke, small artwork - whatever calls to you. This workshop is all about connection - intentional items brought into the space will be honored.
Meditation cushions and yoga mats are available for your use while in the studio. No shoes are allowed in the studio, so please plan to remove your shoes at the front desk. If you require the use of a chair or have other accessibility questions please don't hesitate to reach out. All are welcome, and we want to make sure you are comfortable.
To curate this sacred space, we ask that all belongings be kept in lockers (provided) and that you silence all devices for the duration of the 3-hour workshop. There will be breaks throughout the workshop to enjoy your snacks and check your devices.
As caregivers, we understand that emergencies happen and ask that you do what you need to offer yourself this sacred space and time.
Elyse is extremely excited to call in BIPOC and/or LGBTQIA+ folks into this space. If you identify as BIPOC and/or femme, non-binary, or other identities, we welcome you. If you do not identify as a BIPOC person, we ask that you pass this opportunity to the BIPOC community and thank you in advance for sharing this special workshop.
This session is womxn led and will cater to the BIPOC womxn narrative.
