Join author and scholar Darren Parry, former Chairman of the Northwestern Band of the Shoshone Nation, for an evening focused on Native foodways and the enduring connection between Native communities and the land on Thursday, November 13th from 6-7:30PM.Darren’s work emphasizes the vital connection between the Shoshone people and their ancestral lands. Through stories and insight, Darren will share how practices such as cultivating native plants and revitalizing food systems are nourishing communities while promoting sustainable land stewardship.
Guests who purchase an Experience Level ticket will enjoy access to a pre-event meet-and-greet with Darren Parry from 5-6PM, featuring a thoughtfully curated selection of light appetizers inspired by local and traditional foods. See below for details.

Darren Parry teaches Native American History at Utah State University and currently serves as Practitioner and Residency at the University of Utah’s Environmental Humanities Program. He is the author of "The Bear River Massacre: A Shoshone History" (2019) and, most recently, "Tending the Sacred: How Indigenous Wisdom Will Save the World" (2025).

$10 – General Level

$20 – Support Level
This ticket reflects the true cost of hosting the event. If every seat were sold at this level, we would break even. Choosing the Support Level creates community opportunities and supports the Museum’s educational programs and broader mission.
$40 – Experience Level
Experience Level tickets include reserved front-row seating and exclusive access to a pre-event meet-and-greet with Darren Parry from 5:00–6:00 PM. During this time, guests will enjoy a thoughtfully curated selection of light appetizers, inspired by local and traditional Native foods. These tickets also offer a meaningful way to give back—your contribution helps fund General Level tickets and supports the Museum’s ongoing educational work, ensuring our programs remain accessible and impactful.
