Rooted in Connection - Solo Art Exhibition by Melanie Royster

The exhibition is an ecosystem made up of plants, insects, water, trees, celestial imagery, ancestors, lovers, sisters, mothers, and spiritual messengers. Rooted in Connection explores the profound relationship between humanity and the natural world. Melanie creates an ecosystem across 15 works in which people do not just exist within nature, they are nature. Bodies emerge as trees that are met with insects and blossoming flowers. Their silhouettes form stone and moving bodies of water that dissolve the boundary between human life and the environments that sustain it. At the heart of the exhibition, a simple idea lingers: we are not separate from nature, we are part of it.
Royster invites us to reconsider connection across three dimensions: physical, spiritual, and biological. Together, they aim to cure a world torn by individualism and consider interdependence necessary. What if we stopped viewing ourselves as individuals standing outside of nature and instead as participants inside something much larger? Humans are Nature.
